#1 Perfume Making
There’s something magical about this time of year that makes a girl’s nose crave for the familiar scents of vanilla, cinnamon and freshly baked sugar cookies.
These smells might remind us of a pleasant memory from the past, or maybe it is just that society deceives us into thinking that they promote an atmosphere of serenity, comfort, and togetherness.
Whatever it is, there’s no doubt that certain aromas have a unique ability to instantly put us in a festive mood.
So this winter season, why not attend a perfume-making workshop?
Enjoy the luxury of mixing and blending your own scents to form a fragrance that truly represents you.
Or perhaps you’d rather the complete ‘do-it-yourself’ package, in which case you’d need to gather your best-smelling essential oils, turn on a YouTube tutorial, and get making.
It could be that the seemingly exciting practical labour does not excite you at all.
In that case, take a look at some of my favourite ‘already-made’ store fragrances:
Ordering From The States? No Problem :)
USD: ‘Burberry Her Elixir’
USD: ‘Kayali Vanilla 28’
USD: ‘Parfum de Marly Delina eau de parfum’
#2 Candle Shopping
Get your environment looking and smelling like a Christmas paradise by indulging in a candle-hunting adventure.
The subtle smells of candy-cane, gingerbread and ember will create a truly enchanting ambience, a warm and cosy place that you’d never want to leave.
Be tempted by their beauty and fragrance as you pass by each shop.
Take a step inside and find the perfect scented candle for the perfect winter season.
#3 Knit Or Crochet Your Winter Fashion
From smaller projects such as hand warmers and cute socks to trying your hand at scarves and sweaters, the mere thought of curling up in the softest blanket while crocheting a piece of winter clothing and attempting to steal a glance at the Christmas romantic film playing does indeed excite me.
During these cold months, you might feel a bit low in energy, and your mind is already anxious about the year to come.
I find crocheting one of the hobbies that can ransom you from the winter blues.
It is soothing and allows you to see the fruits of your labour immediately.
It is slow, but the outcome I find is always worth it.
The fact that you had to create a project by hand immediately makes it meaningful and therefore is a great way to express your love and gratitude to a special someone.
#4 Ice Skating
Ice skating is definitely the ‘It girl’ of winter activities.
It is usually marketed as the pinnacle of winter fun and a jolly good experience.
It is also typically the first thing that comes to mind when people think of enjoying a winter wonderland.
Gliding on the ice is not only a thrill but also very therapeutic.
Although digesting the horror stories and mishaps that have occurred on the ice might be a struggle.
The beauty of witnessing parents cling desperately to the railing, children eagerly skating off, and the air being filled with heartfelt, unceasing laughter is a wondrous sight.
Although cold, the vibrant smiles and unity of everyone seem to add so much warmth, making you feel like you’re having the most enchanting experience.
#5 Bake And Decorate A Gingerbread House
This festive activity is plastered on every Christmas ad and considered a true Christmas tradition.
In reality, though, I have yet to meet people who have made or even decorated a gingerbread house.
If this is you also, this year why not take the initiative to join in on this joyous tradition in baking and decorating your very own gingerbread house desert?
Invite some of the children within the family to help with the decoration process.
It is a fun way to connect and create wonderful memories, so encourage them to make a mess (or not) and take lots of photos.
#6 Watch A Play
Nothing feels more magical than escaping into a gripping story full of music, drama, and humour on a cold winter’s night. It feels like being wrapped in a cosy blanket full of imagination and storytelling.
Truly relax and clear your mind from worrying and anxiousness by enjoying the festive production of “The Nutcracker.” Or enjoy watching “A Christmas Carol” for the seventh time.
Whatever live theatre production entices you, go!
#7 Visit Your Local Christmas Market
Winter is probably the one season when even the most tranquil towns are constantly awake.
It’s as if everyone carries some sort of vampire gene, and sleep no longer exists.
Push through the crowd and take this opportunity to do a night stroll through your local Christmas market.
Take watch of the twinkling lights plastered on every light post and house as you sip on your travel cup filled with hot cocoa.
Enjoy the festive cheer in the air, take part in the various workshops, and find unique pieces and decorations to take back home.
Stay Safe!
#8 Visit The Museum
Something that can be considered boring is often deeply appreciated and can be seen as dreamy during the winter season.
A tour around the museum is another great activity to slow down, take a breather, and enjoy the masterpieces of various artists.
Look at the artefacts and enjoy learning about their historical relevance.
The museum is also an amazing way to get a little bit more dressy with your winter style.
#9 Take A Pottery Class
A great way to detach from the world wide web, enjoy the conversation of others, and simply focus on creativity and the soothing atmosphere that a pottery class gives.
As mentioned in previous posts, giving gifts—even to oneself—is a common language that is ingrained with affection, consideration, and gratitude.
Show yourself just how loved she truly is. Finally, take the steps to start healing your inner child.
So this winter, gift yourself or a special someone a cute bowl or mug made from your love to be truly cherished.
#10 Watch The Fireworks
From fun fairs to fireworks shows, try to search online to see if and where these types of events will be hosted.
If it’s not too far, gather up your friends and head on down to enjoy the beautiful sightings with the rest of the neighbourhood.
Stare in awe as you see dazzling lights forcing your smile to stretch from ear to ear.
Enjoy the dreamlike atmosphere, including the excited claps and squeals from children and adults alike as they look up in amazement.
Enjoy the hot food and the warm company of others.
Moments like these truly make tackling frosty air absolutely worth it!
Wait! Before you go, here's a quote for you to take while you leave:
