Essential School Supplies Every GCSE Student Should Have
If you’re just about to go into year 11 then you should know that having the right equipment and school supplies can significantly boost your grade, simply because of how they can make you feel ready and confident to take on the year ahead.
Down below, I’ve gathered some of the best school supplies alongside some other helpful things that I’m sure will assist you in having the right mindset to acing your GCSEs. Take a look :)
The Basics
Black/Blue Pens: Make sure to stock up on good quality pens that fit comfortably in your hand. Definitely choose pens that write quite smoothly, don't smudge easily or run out after just one week. I personally prefer to write with a black ink Muji pen or with a black ink Bic pen.
Mechanical/Regular Pencils: I would say to get both, especially if you take a subject like art or textiles. On the other hand, remember that you need pencils for drawing diagrams in maths such as graphs and circles so this is also a school supply that you should definitely stock up on.
A Good Size Rubber/Eraser
A 30 cm Ruler
A Calculator: I personally prefer the Casio Calculator simply because it is made to assist specifically GCSE students.
A Full Maths Set: Instead of getting items such as a protractor and a compass separately, by getting a math set you’ll get these items together alongside other small items that are great. The most common math sets are the Oxford math sets and the Helix math sets so make sure to take a look at those.
A Glue Stick
For Organisation And Productivity
A Study Planner: This is such a great tool for easy organisation between having time for yourself and revising. It's a great way for you to optimise your productivity which is why you should definitely make sure you get one.
Daily Planner/ To do List: Writing down what you have to do during the day and checking them off when you’ve completed them is a great way to remind yourself that you need to constantly be productive. These make it simple and easy for you to see all the tasks that you have to get done before the day is finished.
A Calendar: Having a calendar means you can constantly remind yourself the exact dates of your GCSE exams. You will also be able to plan and look at the year as a whole.
Make A Revision Timetable: Make sure your timetable is not too crowded yet not too scarce.
A Good Size School Pencil Case: This is to put all your pens, rubbers and pencils.
Highlighters
Homework Folder: You need this so that you’re not looking around, trying to find the worksheet that your physics teacher gave you one week ago.
All Subject Ring Binder: Buy a lever arch binder with lots of dividers for each of your individual subjects. Instead of carrying around 2 or 3 binders every day, by using a binder like this, you can carry around just one binder with all your subjects incorporated into it so that your life is easier.
For Your Personal Revision
Revision Guides: If you’re already aware of which specification and exam board you’re doing for particular subjects, then by all means go ahead and purchase all the revision guides you need. However make sure you get some clarity to whether your school will provide these revision guides for you before you mistakenly go out and spend your own money.
Flashcards
A Stapler And Paper Clips
Sticky Notes
A USB Stick: This is such a handy tool especially if you are someone who likes to print out physical revision resources such as past papers.
An Exam Pencil Case: Buy a separate pencil case that is clear and transparent, just for your mocks and actual exams. Keep your best stationery in this pencil case so that you’re feeling extremely ready and equipped for your exams.
Exercise Books: If you are able, try and buy an exercise book for each of your subjects to keep at home for your own personal revision.
Folders/Small A4 Binders: If you rather not to buy exercise books then buying small A4 binders for each or your subjects is a great alternative. This is for you to keep at home for your own personal revision.
Coloured Pens/pencils: This is so that you can add a bit of spice to your notes to make them look more aesthetic and exciting to revise.
Other
A Water Bottle: Obviously this is not an essential school supply for a gcse student but it is still very much needed😁.
A Flashcard Box: For you to store all your flashcard creations.
School/Exam Journal: For you to store all your memories to look back on and smile.
Well That’s It Folks
