The ending part of your day is just as important as the starting part of your day. 

Stop putting so much effort and planning into your mornings and abandon the night-time. They both need your attention as they are both qualified in helping  you change your lifestyle and attitude for the better. 


In this blog-post we’ll cover some of the most Simple But Effective things that you can do in order to always have that desired night that most people yearn for; One that is relaxing but still productive. So let’s dive in.

The Basics

These are the things that I’m sure you’ve already been doing every night before you go to bed. These are the habits that you have subconsciously developed overtime and have been doing regularly without making a note on a piece of paper or in your planner. These habits include:

  • Bathing & taking a shower

  • Brushing your teeth

  • Changing into some comfy clothes...or sleeping nude

In order to feel more attuned with yourself and feel amazing even when you are wiring down for the day, you will definitely have to do more than just these three things. Hold tight and let me show you how.

Productivity Habits For You To Do At Night

 These are some of the habits that I’ve been trying to indulge in my own teenage life so that I may be one step closer to being confident and at peace with myself.

 At times it may seem time consuming and just not something I would want to do at that present time, but I’m  learning that using my free time for self development will lead me to the right path of success.

Here are some things that you can start off with to make sure that your nights are more productive whenever there isn’t such a clear priority within your life such as your studies or your job.


Read: Choose a book that piques your interest. Find a quiet and comforting place for you to sit down and just read. Try to get lost in another world, and find true love with the plot and the characters that you’re reading about. If you are ready to move on to something new within your night routine, make sure that you stop reading on a page where there’s a cliffhanger or something that you just cannot wait to find out more about. This will give you the drive and push you need to carry on reading the following night.

Plan For Tomorrow:  Have a set of some achievable goals that you would like to get done in the morning. Make them as specific as you possibly can and not vague and general. If you are planning to workout tomorrow, write down the workout routine you’ll be doing alongside the exact  time you are going to start working out  and how many time it will take up in your day. 

Tidy Up: Before going to bed, make sure the area you will be sleeping in is organized and tidy. You will feel so much more at ease and relaxed in the morning as you glance around your clean surroundings, therefore making you more optimised in starting your day on a positive note. 

Update Yourself With The News: This is something that I definitely need to start doing more often and incorporate into my night routine. Normally I would up-to-date myself with everything that is going on with the world just by going on social media such as twitter instead of watching the live news or reading news blogs for myself. Now is the time for me to start taking action and know about things from primary sources instead of secondary sources where my friends and other people online will be the ones to tell me. For me, this is something that can help me with improving my independence skills.

Pray: Take the time to talk to God. Tell him everything that is on your mind and that you are grateful that he kept you safe from morning till now. This is the time where you take a look back on your day and reflect.

Journal: Here’s another way for you to reflect on your day. If you don’t like to write or just don’t have the time, you can do what I do and install apps that will consistently ask you about your day.

Self Care Habits You Need To Start Doing At Night

Make sure that you:

Drink Water: It’s extremely important that you are drinking water regularly throughout the entire day and not just at night so that your sleep cycle and your health won’t be negatively affected. If you have been doing that, it can also be a good idea to keep a water bottle near your bed (with a straw) for you to sip on either during the night or just before you doze off to sleep.

Wash Your Face: Do this every night before you go to bed to prepare yourself and your skin for that deep night sleep.

Exfoliate Your Skin: Try getting a mild exfoliating scrub for you to use at night so that it won’t tarnish your skin.

Haircare: If you have hair like mine, then you know that it consistently, without a doubt, needs to be moisturised and cared for. So whatever your personalised hair care routine is, do it.

Lotion Up: Give the rest of your body that love that you give your face.

Mirror Time: Look at the person that stares back at you in the mirror and tell that person that they are beautiful and one of a kind.

Get A Quote: This is something weird that I do but I think it helps with self development a lot. So, basically, I have this book full of quotes. In the morning I would randomly choose a quote and that’s the quote I would continue to remind myself of throughout the day. At night, I  would read the same exact quote again to see if something in my day connected or linked to it. By doing this, it gave me something to strive for during my day.

Detach From Social Media: This is the perfect time for you to focus solely on yourself. Everyone else can wait. Social media is not running away from you so stop chasing  it. Step back and relax yourself. You’ll thank yourself later.

Put Your Phone On Do Not Disturb: This is so that you’re not tempted to check that WhatsApp message your best friend Tina texted you.

Night Entertainment

Just because it’s the night time, it doesn’t mean that you have to be all chilled and quiet. There are plenty of things for you to do to make you feel amazing just before your head touches that pillow for the last time of the day. 

Here are a few things that might spark your interest: 

  • You can play an instrument such as the piano

  • You can watch one episode of a series

  • You can listen to a podcast

  • You can listen to some relaxing music

  • You can listen to an audiobook or just read

  • You can do some advanced colouring

Things You Shouldn’t Do At Night

  • Do not drink anything with caffeine

  • Do not eat fatty foods/junk food

  • Do not stress about tomorrow
